Hello
Hi, I’m Debbie Espie. I’m passionate about creating a therapeutic space where healing, growth, and genuine connection can thrive. With a warm, down-to-earth approach, I believe that therapy doesn’t have to be all serious — sometimes laughter and lightness can be just as transformative as the deeper conversations.
As a trauma-informed therapist and supervisor, I offer a safe, inclusive, and neurodiversity-affirming space for clients from all walks of life. Whether you’re navigating the complexities of trauma, working through grief, or exploring personal growth, I’m here to walk alongside you.
My approach is person-centred and integrative, tailoring our work together to meet your unique needs. I’m also experienced in online and telephone counselling, providing flexible support wherever you are.
Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, indulging in creative hobbies, and making sure I take time to recharge — because I believe self-care is essential for all of us.
I’d be honoured to support you on your journey of self-discovery and healing.
My Story
I started my career in the NHS, working my way up to a senior clinical position before transitioning into academia, where I supported students on their health and social work placements. It was during this time that I discovered my passion for therapy and decided to train as a counsellor - beginning an incredible journey that has shaped my work ever since.
With years of experience, including volunteering with Cruse Bereavement Charity, I have supported many clients through grief and loss. My practice is trauma-informed, person-centred, and integrative, working with children, young people, and adults to navigate challenges such as trauma, PTSD, and relationship difficulties. I also embrace a neurodiversity-affirming approach, ensuring therapy is inclusive and tailored to each individual's needs.
Self-care is something I deeply value and encourage in my clients - we cannot give from an empty pot. I love spending time with family and friends but also appreciate ‘me’ time to recharge. Recently, I’ve taken up yet more creative hobbies and enjoy incorporating creativity into therapy when clients find it helpful.
I believe in bringing warmth, authenticity, and even humour into the therapy space when appropriate. The work can be deep and challenging, but connection, understanding, and sometimes a little laughter can make all the difference. Whether in therapy or supervision, my goal is to create a safe and supportive space for growth and healing.
